Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information My Race Day ("we", "our", "the app") collects, how it is used, and the choices you have. We built this app for runners and take your privacy seriously.

1. What We Collect

Selfie / profile photo

When you add a profile photo, the image is saved on your device. When you perform a face search, the photo is transmitted over HTTPS to Photohawk (search.api.photohawk.com), a third-party face search service, to find matching photos in race galleries. Face matching is performed on Photohawk's servers — the app does not use Face ID or any on-device facial recognition technology. Photohawk's own privacy policy governs how they handle transmitted images.

Name

If you enter your name in the Profile tab, it is stored only on your device and is used to pre-fill race result searches. It is never transmitted to our servers.

Race results

When you save a race result, the event name, category, finish time, and result URL are stored locally on your device. This data is fetched from CheckpointSpot (results.checkpointspot.asia), a third-party race timing service, and is not sent to our servers.

Usage data

We do not collect analytics, crash reports, advertising identifiers, or any usage telemetry. No third-party analytics SDKs are included in the app.

2. How We Use Your Data

Your selfie is transmitted to Photohawk solely to search for matching photos in the galleries you select.
Your name is used only to pre-fill the participant search field in the Race tab.
Saved race results are displayed in your Profile tab for your own reference.

We do not sell, share, or monetise any personal data. We do not operate the face search infrastructure — Photohawk's privacy policy applies to image processing on their end.

3. Data Storage and Retention

All data (selfie, name, saved results) is stored locally on your device using the app's private storage. It is never uploaded to a database or cloud service by us.

Your selfie is transmitted to Photohawk's face search service during a search request. Retention of transmitted images is governed by Photohawk's own privacy policy.

You can delete your selfie at any time from the Profile tab using the "Remove photo" button. Uninstalling the app removes all locally stored data.

4. Third-Party Services

Photohawk (search.api.photohawk.com)

Photohawk is a third-party face search service that powers the gallery photo matching feature. Your selfie is transmitted to them during a search. We do not control or operate their infrastructure. Please refer to Photohawk's privacy policy for details on how they handle submitted images.

CheckpointSpot (results.checkpointspot.asia)

Race event and participant data is fetched from CheckpointSpot, a third-party race timing platform. Searches you perform (event names, participant names) are sent to their servers as query parameters. Their privacy policy applies to those requests.

We do not integrate any advertising networks, social media SDKs, or tracking services.

5. Permissions

Camera — used only to capture a selfie for face search. You can also use a photo from your library instead.
Photo library (read) — used only when you choose to pick an existing photo as your selfie.
Photo library (write, iOS) — used only when you choose to save a matched photo to your camera roll.

No permissions are requested until you explicitly trigger the relevant feature. Granting camera or library access is optional — you can skip adding a selfie if you prefer.

6. Children's Privacy

This app is not directed at children under 13 (US) or under 13 (EU/MY). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal data, please contact us so we can delete it.

7. Your Rights

Because all data is stored locally on your device, you have full control over it at all times:

Remove your selfie at any time via Profile → Remove photo.
Delete your name by clearing the name field in the Profile tab.
Delete saved race results individually using the ✕ button on each result.
Delete all app data by uninstalling the app.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as the app evolves. The "last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect any changes. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
